Episode 6 – Take a Breath!
First, you will need to download the Take a Breath! lab manual.
You know that thing you do when you are nervous and are about to do something brave? Or when you are so tired from running? Or when you are focusing on falling asleep at night? Yes my friends, we are talking about breathing! How do we breathe? Also, why do we breathe? Well, our body needs oxygen which is moved throughout our body when our heart pumps blood. Check out how this happens and why it is important in our Take a Breath! activity!
The Environmental Protection Agency suggests we breathe roughly 17,000 – 23,000 times per day. If you have taken one minute to read this, you have likely taken approximately 13 breaths! You may have not even realized you are doing so. This is because breathing happens whether we think about it or not. Imagine if you had to tell yourself to breathe every time you wanted to take a breath! Why do you think our bodies are built this way?
