Pooter Prowling

#FridayFunday

Let’s safely catch and observe insects close up. Today, we’re going to be entomologist and participate in field work with pooters!

A pooter is a device used to collect insects, and other small, fragile organisms for scientific purposes. These devices are most commonly used for field and lab work by entomologists (scientists who study insects).

Insects outnumber all other forms of life combined, and perform functions vital to life on earth. The total insect diversity varies from 2.6-7.8 million species. Insect species vary in body structure, methods of movement, and methods of feeding. These differences will contribute to where the insects are found and what they look like.
